Referees

Refereeing at North Star

North Star FC is on the lookout for enthusiastic and dedicated referees to join our growing team. We offer opportunities for both MiniRoos Referees and Club Referees, catering to a range of age groups and skill levels.

We are also seeking experienced adult referees to help officiate matches and support the development of younger referees. Whether you’re new to refereeing or have years of experience, we’d love to hear from you!

All referees are paid in line with Football Queensland (FQ) rates, making this a great way to stay involved in the game while earning extra income.

Equipment

North Star FC will supply referees with a referee shirt for game days, red and yellow cards, flags, pencils and notebooks, and stopwatches. While the club has a limited supply of whistles, referees are encouraged to provide their own.

Referees must supply their own Fox 40 whistle or higher (no pea whistles), along with black shorts and black socks to complete their uniform.

North Star Referee Program (Coming Soon)

North Star FC, in partnership with Football Queensland (FQ), is developing a Referee Program to support and train our MiniRoos and Club Referees. This program will focus on building strong foundational skills and providing ongoing development opportunities.

For those who discover a passion for refereeing, we encourage attending an FQ Level 4 Referee Course (minimum age 13). Successful completion, including a field assessment by FQ, qualifies you as a registered FQ Referee, opening doors to higher levels of refereeing.
